Coffee is one of the hottest ingredients in steak rubs these days. We just updated our rub to include a secret ingredient that adds a terrific smokiness on top of the unique anise and coffee notes.
2 36 OZ. 2-INCH THICK PORTERHOUSE STEAKS
1 PACKAGE JAVA JIVE
1 TBSP. MASHED ROASTED GARLIC
1 TSP. KOSHER SALT
1/2 CUP ORANGE JUICE CONCENTRATE, THAWED
1/4 CUP FRESH LIME JUICE
1 CUP OLIVE OIL
FRESHLY GROUND BLACK PEPPER
Directions: Whisk together vinaigrette ingredients. Set aside. Pat steaks dry, rub with Java Jive and set aside at room temperature for 30 minutes. Grill steaks for 8-10 minutes per side. Brush some of the vinaigrette on each side while cooking. Remove steaks from grill and let rest 5-10 minutes. Slice steaks and serve with a small amount of vinaigrette. Note: there will be plenty of vinaigrette left over for another use.
